It all started with Cliff’s mother when he was about five years old. Each day on
the trip to the post office she would say, “Okay, picture a parking place right in
front.” It seemed to work. Later in college, however, his math-major and physics-minor
science background discounted much of that. After all, if it couldn’t pass scientific
scrutiny, it wasn’t valid.
Cliff’s experience with traditional religions troubled him. Some said dancing was bad,
others said eating meat on Friday's was not good, and the thought that there was a God
in the sky judging everything he did compounded his challenge with church. So he put
the subject on the shelf for years.
In 1978, he went to his first Religious Science church. He was finally at home! The
founder, Ernest Holmes, created something he could really get behind. The teachings
were devoid of dogma and doctrine and came with 10 simple principles that they asked
him to try out and KNOW for himself—not just accept them because they said so. He
took classes and started doing spiritual mind treatments—the incredible five-step
prayer process that he was also asked to try out. (See the animated method he developed
for Sunday schools at: www.livelovelaugh.com/praying.) This excited his science background
since he could practice on almost anything and everything and prove it to himself.
Time after time, he would see prayers manifest in his reality, to his absolute amazement.
He proved to himself there was a definite effect of putting thought into motion through
realization of oneness with God. It moved him from wanting to have faith that there was
a God, to a personal experience of knowing God. He realized it wasn’t the material
things that manifested due to prayer that were important, it was the deep spiritual
conviction that it inspired within him. Miracles became a natural outcome, along with
an inner peace from realizing we are all one.
Cliff obtained his first Religious Science practitioner license in 1981. About that time,
he also enjoyed teaching 200 Sundays of Sunday school. Children are so very close to
Divine Spirit, it was actually a blessing for him. For about half of that time, he was
the director with about 17 teachers to train and support. He renewed his license in 2002
by taking all the wonderful Science of Mind classes again. Of course, they are always
different since they apply to your life with what’s going on at the time. By the way,
he feels that only 10% of the value in Religious Science is from Sunday service; 90% is
from the incredible classes.
One of his greatest Divine gifts is creativity, and he
currently express this through by website design, his books, and his
co-creation of a way for people to refer business to each other (www.hisreferralclub.com).
