SEASIDE CENTER’S ARTS AND MUSIC
DEPARTMENT
Seaside’s rich and thriving arts and music department contains
many fabulous components comprised of our Sound Crew Team, Our
Sunday Morning Jazz Band, our Wednesday Night Amazing Grace
Band, our Seaside Choir, and the many people who make up these
teams.
Our Artistic Director, Rev. Fran Loskota-Christ, who heads up
most of the teams, brings many years of musical, professional
experience to the table along with her position as Ordained New
Thought Religious Science Minister. She has composed many
songs for both church and choir, as well as her own pop/jazz
compositions. In addition to booking musical talented
guests for Sunday mornings, she engages in directing the 35+
voice Seaside Choir and assists our talented Bob Mathes in
leading Sunday morning music, as well as in advisory capacity of
the Sound Crew. Concerts and musical events are her love,
and she oversees and directs in that arena, too. Giving
piano lessons on Mondays this past summer was a joy and a slightly
different approach to offering her gifts at Seaside. Look for the
Choir sign-up sheet in family room!
Our Seaside Jazz Band is directed by Bob Mathes, RScP, who has
been a member of Seaside for over 14 years. He has
attracted many valuable players to our stage including,
currently: Hollis Hassel, Tom Bishop, Tracey Larvenz,
Guillermo Espinal, and San Diego legend, Lynn Willard, and Steve
Alan (who is on hiatus now), plus a plethora of visiting
musicians over the years. Bob is a licensed practitioner
at Seaside, has over 30 years in the music business and also
acts as consultant to our Sound Crew Team.
The Sound Crew Team consists of Melanie Bennett, Ed Reeves and
Doug Parent. Currently the team is busy fixing, repairing
and using the fabulous gift we attracted earlier this year to
enhance and augment our sound system. The
giving nature of these wonderful artists each in their own
right, has benefited Seaside to the highest.
The Amazing Grace Wednesday Night Band, consisting of Jim
Bianchi, Ahria, and Ed Reeves is something to hear….not only are
they accompanying many gifted and talented singers, but they are
on the stage soothing and performing God’s music in their
inimitable styles. Ahria, who composed all of the featured
congregational songs, is a very talented singer who is a member
of the Positive Music Association and has copyrighted many of
her wonderful compositions.
Seaside strives for joyous, uplifting and amazing varieties of
positive music – designed to inspire, calm, lift, provoke and
evoke the Oneness within. Sensing art’s and music’s
abilities to align the innermost invisible parts of our beings,
we take care in providing guest artists who can do just that.
From Freebo to Yolanda West, from Sherry Williams to Karl
Anthony, from Danielle Lo Presti to Peter Sprague, or Peggy Lebo
to Sweet Baby J’ai and hosts of others, we endeavor to
demonstrate our interconnectedness and at the same time our
unique expressions of God. Our beautifully gifted Paul
Lloyd Warner Boesendorfer piano anchors our excellence in live
performances.
Our own resources including Marv Goldsmith as PowerPoint Presenter and
Graphics Artist demonstrate our own depth in artistic creation.
Board Member, David Hackett, RScP, is a designer by trade and has
contributed much to Seaside’s beautiful appearance in font and
color!!
Our holiday
seasonal performances by the Choir and Teens and
Children create a loving, family environment to many who are
without family connection at this time. We are reminded of
our mission statement…to Love Humanity, Create Divinity, and
Honor Community.
Seaside is known for its loving generosity in opening its doors
to all kinds of outside events – from weddings and memorials to
musical concerts to yoga conferences, etc. Our special
event coordinator, Karen Koblentz, has been on task in hosting
fabulous New Thought speakers as recently as Lisa Nichols to
Deepak Chopra. We are blessed to have our “godmother” be
on that assignment, as her events are not to be missed and
always well attended!
Seaside also podcasts its Sunday services through a fabulous
videographer, Tim Griffin, RScP, and you can tune in any time at
your convenience to hear our Spiritual Leader, Rev. Dr.
Christian Sorensen, uplift your thoughts and present new ideas –
all at your convenience and schedule.
As further information, our Musician Staff, Sound Crew, and Arts
Dept. comprised of many professionals and educators, can be
approached at any time for any of your own musical/arts events,
or you may contact them through our Office Staff or my own
