The Reverend Christian Sorensen, D.D., is the spiritual leader of the
Seaside Center for Spiritual Living and a past president and community spiritual leader of
the United Church of Religious Science (UCRS) worldwide (now United Centers for Spiritual Living).
He is also the director of the San Diego Regional Holmes Institute, an accredited
master's degree program in consciousness studies that has campuses in Los Angeles,
California, and Seattle, Washington. He is also the director of the Wisdom for Life
elementary school.
Dr. Christian was born into Religious Science and has been a lifelong student of metaphysics.
Both his father and mother were ordained into the ministry on the same day as Dr.
Christian in 1985—the only triple family ordination in the history of the movement.
Dr. Christian’s credentials include a Doctorate of Religious Studies earned
from Emerson Theological Institute and a Doctor of Divinity and a Doctor of Religious Science
received from UCRS. He was Senior Minister of the Ventura County Church in California
from 1983-1988, cofounder of the Costa Mesa Church in California in 1982, and co-creator of
the Oahu Church in Hawaii in 1988.
A gifted and eloquent speaker with a unique and engaging style, Dr. Christian lights up
audiences with his expansive vision, passion, and heart-felt enthusiasm. His
impassioned visionary talks on spirituality, New Thought, Religious Science, practical
matters, and Universal love continue to thrill listeners during services, at speaking
engagements, and internationally. His new talks are now being viewed by thousands
every week on the Internet webcasts which can be view any time at seasidecenter.org.
He is in high demand as a speaker for business and social engagements.
Dr. Christian is a world traveler, leading groups to Tibet, India, China, Russia,
North Africa, Scandinavia, Australia, and New Zealand. Raising global consciousness
is of great importance to Dr. Christian. To that end, he has strengthened international
ties by helping orphanages and schools in Mexico and Africa through direct giving and
hands-on building. Dr. Christian currently serves on the Leadership Council for the
Association for Global New Thought.
Dr. Christian hosted a television show for four years called Winds from the Sea, which
was aired on both the east and west coasts of the United States. His recent show,
The Power of One, was viewed on XUPN.
He is the author of several acclaimed books, including Soar, Catch the Spirit, Riding the
Waves of Life, A Book of Prayers, Good Cents, and Free Your Own Tibet. In addition,
he has written and published a number of booklets, including Prospering Power of Tithing
and How to Feel Together in a Lonely World.
Dr. Christian is an avid sportsman who loves surfing, skiing, tennis, and flying.
He shares his love for travel and the outdoors with his wife, Kalli Holmes-Sorensen, and
their beautiful son, Trevor, born in 2000.
